Koshi River
Adventure |
The
Sunkoshi. means "Golden River" flows
through the great valley between the Mahabharat
lekh mountains and the Himalayan range.
It forms the watershed for most of Eastern
Nepal, gathering strength from many glaciers
fed tributaries on its way to India &
the Ganges. Rafting the Sunkoshi river is
a unique experience, a rare combination
of scenic beauty, cultural encounters &
exciting white water. |
|
|
| So
Sunkoshi is one of the most enjoyable river in the
world. Rafting put-in point is Dolalghat, which
is just two hours drive from Kathmandu to take-out
point at Chatara. Far down in the Gangetic plain
( 8 days on the river) The Sunkoshi starts off fairly
relaxed, with small class two rapids & small
class three rapids to warm up on during the 1st
couple of days. While the lower sections of large
volume rivers are usually flat, the Sunkoshi reserves
some of its biggest & best rapids for the last
days Everyday 5 hours paddling on the river except
first & last day. rapid countered class 4 to
5 according to class 1-6 |

Karnali
River Adventure |
|
Karnali
zone is Far West of Nepal and this is one
of the best rivers of Nepal. Starting from
the Kanziroba and glacier of other small
peaks as well as Rara lake Rapid encountered
on this river is 1 to 5 class. Being the
longest river in all of Nepal, the Karnali
drains a huge & well-developed catchments.
During spring snowmelts can fill up the
river dramatically in a matter of hours. |
|
| As
a result, the river rises and the difficulty increases
exponentially. The river flows through steep &
constricted kayos where the rapids are close together,
giving little opportunity to correct for potential
mistakes. |
The
trip starts with an interesting bus ride
(optional flight) over to the far West of
Nepal. An area only recently opened to tourism.
From the frontier town of Surkhet there
is a lovely two day trek through lowland
Sal forest to the village of Saul. From
Sauli it's 180 km to the nest road access
at Chisopani, on the northern border of
the Royal Bardia National Park. |
|
|
| The
river section takes about seven days, giving plenty
of time to explore some of the side canyons and
waterfalls, which comes in to the river valley. |
| |
Arun
River Adventure |
| |
| The
easiest way to get to this river is catching a plane
to put in point at Tumlingtar. Alternatively one
can drive for 1 1/2 days and then trek for three
days. The Arun is one of the more advanced rivers
in Nepal, and although only three days on the river,
the scenic mountain views and the unique wildlife
makes it all worth while. |
| |
Seti
River Adventure |
The
put in point is at Damauli where on the
second day the Seti merge into the Trisuli.
Only two days on the river, the Seti is
a fairly short trip, but offers beautiful
mountain views of the Annapurna South.
2 days
Mountain views of the Annapurna range

Bhote Koshi
River Adventure |
| |
| The
Bhote Koshi is one of the recently opened rivers
& represents the forefront of river rafting,
which is just three hours far from Kathmandu. It
is the steepest river rafted in Nepal technically
& totally committing With a gradient of 80 feet
per mile. It is a full eight times steeper then
Sunkoshi which it feeds further downstream The rapids
are steep & continuous class 4 with continuous
class 3 in between At high flows several of rapids
will be solid class 5 & consequences for mistakes
on the entire river will become caustic. This river
rafting is possible at fix during the low water |
| |
Marsyangdi
River Adventure |
| |
| Only
recently opened to commercial rafting. The Marsyangdi
is the hardest white water rafting in Nepal and
therefore only few tourists have explored this river.
The trip starts with a tough busied from Dumre to
Besisahar which is an awakening call for your nerves
& your flight responses. If you trek from Besisahar
up to the village of Ngadi, you will have a great
view of Manaslu and the Annapurna ahead of you the
whole time. From Ngadi downstream to the end of
the trip at Bimalnagar It's pretty much solid white
water, rapids are steep. Technical & consecutive
making the Marsyangdi a serious undertaking at any
water level like the Bhote Koshi. |
